A Personal Mantra

I am a person that has a lot of interests, a lot of ideas, and a lot of desires. It can drive me crazy. I get distracted, feel unproductive, and then get discouraged. Maybe you can relate?
Several years ago I spent some time thinking and cataloging the things that made me content and happy. If I could only focus on a few things, what would it be?

  • I like spending time with family and close friends. I like cooking for them and having good food, wine, and spending time enjoying eating and drinking together, building memories.
  • I am a recreational pilot. It is a constant learning process and I love the world of adventure it opens up to me.
  • I like exercise and the endorphin rush. I’m lazy, by nature, but when I exercise I feel incredible about myself. When I train, and see my body getting stronger, I feel like I can do anything.

When I start getting distracted or discouraged, I know if I focus on these core things my soul and body will be nourished and I will be a more positive person. It led me to create a personal mantra that I can recite anytime I feel the need to focus on what is important in my personal life. Eat. Drink. Fly. Run. Repeat.

Having a simple statement to refocus my attention to things I’ve determined matter most helps me be more content, more inspired, and more optimistic. When I feel better about myself, I’m a better husband, better dad, better friend, better employee, and I hope a better person overall.

QUESTION: Do you have a simple mantra that helps you refocus?

I’d love to hear about it. Email me at brian@livelifeintegrated.com
