First, I just want to say a huge thank you to you for subscribing. This is a new and fairly intimidating venture for me, but exciting and fulfilling at the same time. None of it would be possible without you, though. I sincerely appreciate you reading and accompanying me on this journey. For 2019, my hope and goal is to refine my writing and subject selection so that it is easily accessible, useful, and helps you make a positive change each week.
I started out by saying I would do an email every other week. However, I think a weekly cadence is going to be more effective for both you and me, even if the posts are a little shorter. For 2019, my plan is to have monthly themes and send an email each week.
For today…
This is the season for goal setting. Now, I don’t know how you feel about setting goals. You may be the kind of person that hates them. Or you’re like me and get charged up thinking about what’s possible in the next year. Something I’ve been thinking about is my routines. I’m planning on making some changes to a couple of my key routines. You might consider doing the same, either “instead of” or “in addition to” your goal planning for 2019.
For example, I’m fairly habituated to a morning routine. But, there are some things I want to alter so I can work toward a couple important goals of mine. I’ve reviewed what I currently do, have identified some changes I want to make, and am working to implement those changes. To do that, I’ve added a trigger to help remind me of the desired changes. I have a notebook with my modified routine written down and I keep it right where I drink my coffee so I can review the changes I made and implement them.
I’m also working on my weekly routine and changing some of the times I’ve set aside for exercise, writing, and time with others. None of these changes are specific to a goal, but I think making some small changes in my routines will result in positive outcomes for the year.
Maybe this is something you want to try? Choose one or two routines… morning routine, workday start routine, nighttime routine, weekly routine… whatever you want. Spend a few minutes auditing what you do now and how much time it takes. Then think about one or two changes you might like to make in 2019 and think of a way to trigger you to remember and make the change.
Thank you for reading and feedback is welcome and encouraged
