Two Sundays ago I had composed a nice little email stating how summers in Alaska are a mile-a-minute and I was having a hard time keeping up. I didn’t get around to sending it.
Politics took over my life. Alaska’s government is in dysfunctional chaos and I’ve been preoccupied with it. Alaska is facing some politically charged budget issues that have consumed my thoughts on the future of Alaska and their direct impact to me and my family. I’ve decided to take a break from weekly writing. If I can’t follow through on my intentions, then something needs to change.
Let’s take a break together.
My writing themes for July and August were season-themed. July is fishing season for us and I wanted to write about food-related things. In August I intended to write about themes of subsistence and pioneering ways, like homesteading. Those concepts are central to Alaska and I think the spirit that built Alaska has something to teach me about life. I hope I’ll get to write on that in the future, but we’ll see.
I’ll get re-inspired and I’ll be back, likely when the turmoil has subsided and we have a chance to rest up from the summer fun. Until then, enjoy time with others. Be grateful for small things. Do things wholeheartedly.
Thanks for understanding.
